3. Gearing and folding props allowed.
C. Flight Requirements
1. Two minute maximums for all flights.
2. First three official flights to be made with a 15 second motor run each. If all three are maxes, a fourth flight to be made with 10 second motor run, and if maxed, then all subsequent flights to be made with 5 second motor runs until a max is not achieved.
3. Six attempts for the first three official flights are allowed, immediate declaration required and 20 second maximum for attempts, overruns being automatic attempts for the first three official flights. Overruns after the third official flight to be automatically awarded a "0" score.
TTOMA RUBBER SPEED
1. This event is for propeller driven rubber-powered models.
2. No model dimension may exceed 36 inches.
3. Models may ROG from a takeoff table or be hand launched. The ROG table may be set at any angle to suit the contestant. Neither wheels or takeoff gears are required. Dollies, drop-off gears or skids may be used.
4. The length of the speed course shall be 100 feet, starting at the end of the takeoff table.
5. The model may not roll about its longitudinal axis more than 360 degrees during its travel over the course.
6. There will be no limit to the number of flight attempts permitted.
7. The model shall be timed from the time it is launched until it passes over the finish line. Flights shall be timed to the nearest 1/100 of a second. The fastest speed will determine the winner.
“PEE WEE 30” – NFFS SPECIAL EVENT RULES
A. MODEL DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Dimensions: No part of the model shall exceed thirty (30) inches when it is in the assembled condition. This includes all hardware; such as spinners, hooks, tip plates, etc., although a de-thermalizer fuse may extend outside the thirty (30) inch limit.
2. Power Source: The model shall be powered by a single Cox .020 reed valve engine. Any fuel permitted by AMA rules may be used.
3. Landing Gear: The model must be equipped with a fixed, two-wheeled landing gear which must be capable of supporting the model unassisted for at least thirty (30) seconds in the take off position. Wheels shall be no less that one (1) inch in diameter.
4. Materials and Type of Construction: The model may be constructed of any material, or any combination of materials without restriction. Stick and tissue, built-up sheet, solid balsa models are all permitted.
5. Minimum Weight: The minimum weight of the model, assembled and ready to fly without fuel and fuse, shall be one hundred (100) grams (3.53 oz.).
6. Mechanical or Electronic Devices: Engine run timers, V.I.T. devices, flappers, folders, auto-rudders, gear drive propellers, and similar performance-enhancing devices are specifically prohibited. Mechanical or electronic DT’s may be used, but must be of the single function type.
7. Regulation of Engine Run: The engine run shall be regulated by a metered fuel system, such as an eyedropper, Teflon glue tip, tubing, restricted tank volume device, etc.
B. TIMING OF FLIGHTS:
1. Official Flights: An official flight occurs when the model remains in flight for forty (40) seconds more.
2. Unofficial Flights: An unofficial flight occurs when the flight time is less than forty (40) seconds. In Pee Wee 30, flights of less than forty (40) seconds may be declared official at the option of the contestant. The contestant’s decision must be made immediately and cannot be reversed later.
3. Number of Flights: Each contestant shall be allowed a total of six (6) attempts to make three (3) official flights of over forty (40) seconds.
4. Engine Run: The length of the engine run after the model is released for flight shall have no maximum limit; however, all engine runs of less than fifteen (15) seconds shall be recorded as fifteen (15) seconds for the purpose of flight scoring. A flight time shall be recorder in whole seconds with any fractional seconds dropped to the previous whole second, i.e., 107.9 seconds = 107 seconds.
C. SCORING OF FLIGHTS:
1. Both engine run and flight time must be recorded by the timekeeper. Each official flight shall be given a score that is calculated by dividing the total flight time in seconds by the engine run in seconds and multiplying by a factor of one hundred (100) as follows: Total flight time/Total engine run X 100= Flight Score. Example #1: A perfect max score shall be 800 points as follows: 120 seconds (max)/15 seconds (minimum engine run) x 100 = 800 Example #2: 106 seconds/15 seconds x 100 = 706
2. Flight scores shall be calculated in whole points with any fractional points dropped.
3. Fly-off Flights: When the total score of three (3) official flights equals the maximum possible score of 2400 points, the contestant may attempt additional fly-off flights to break a tie score. The engine run for fly-off flights shall be scored the same as the first (1st) three (3) official flights. The maximum flight time shall be increased in thirty (30) increments until a non-perfect score is recorded. The contestant must maintain a perfect maximum flight/minimum engine run string to continue. All fly-off flights must ROG unassisted. All fly-off attempts are official flights regardless of the duration.
D. GENERAL
All General and Free Flight General Rules from the latest issue of the Official Model Aircraft Regulations (AMA Rules Book) shall be applicable unless specifically modified by these rules for Pee Wee 30. FBH 12/4/03.
